While I was in Hawaii for Spring break, I noticed that Hawaii is very environmentally friendly. They use a lot of paper straws. They also have recycled plastic utensils, cups and bowls. They also have a lot of compostable products. Even though 80% of their products are imported from the mainland, they hope to be sustainable by putting a plan in place.  They have started their new plan to become more sustainable by planting crops that they can use to make biodegradable products, fuel, and food like corn.  Also, by 2026, they hope to have 40% of their electricity come from solar panels and the rest come from wind turbines. Even though it is very easy for Hawaii become more renewable because of its small population, I think bigger states can do it too. Hawaii has to get most of the wind turbines and solar panels imported which is time consuming. It also has a smaller workforce. Other states, like California, consume more electricity but its easier to get to solar panels and wind turbines imported because it is on the mainland.  It is also has a bigger workforce because of its larger population.  All I am saying is that I think that other states should follow Hawaii's lead and become more environmentally friendly.
